Well, I can’t believe it, but in about a month I will be heading down to Costa Rica for a mission trip with my church. I will be down there from July 15-31 and I’m very excited. I just wanted to share that with everyone and ask for your prayers. My youth group is really big, and so they are taking two groups down to Costa Rica – a high school team the first week and the second week will be the middle school team. There are like 96 students going total, which I think is going to be really awesome. Some of my fellow high school graduates and I will be there both weeks serving as leaders for the younger students. I’m very excited about the opportunity to serve and just to be in Costa Rica will be really cool. But I need your prayers. Satan hates it when we are pro-active and when we are taking initiative to share our faith and seek the Lord. He wants nothing more than to “steal, kill, and destroy” (John 10:10). Satan’s goal is to get me distracted. If he can get me to take my focus off of Jesus, he sees that as a major victory. Especially as I’m preparing for Costa Rica and then for Mexico, prayer is vital. Seeking Jesus and staying in His Word is so important. I don’t want to lose focus or think even for one second that it’s about me – because it isn’t. I don’t want to fall into the traps of selfishness or arrogance, because if Satan can get me to think it’s about me, I become useless. Nothing about Costa Rica and nothing about Mexico should point to Abbey. Nothing I do should be in order to build up myself in front of others and to make them think “Wow, Abbey’s such a great person”. My aim, my goal, my focus should be that all I do points to Jesus (directs the glory His way). I want my actions to put Him in the spotlight and I want to be content with wherever that leaves me.
